Fall Decor
Refresh

Before we dive into fall decor, let me start by letting you know how much this change of seasons means to me!
For my beloved Granny’s 90th birthday, all branches of our family submitted recipes to my incredibly talented mother. ย Who then spent countless hours creating a professionally finished “family cookbook”, we can all cherish for decades to come!

My mom shared one of the coolest things with me after our family cookbook was published.
She said, “it is so special and so interesting to see everyone’s personalities come out through these recipes. Virginia (my brilliant sister) clearly loves to bake,ย Anne, (my stunning younger cousin) you can tell loves to entertain,” and of course I had to butt in asking,
“what do my recipes represent about me?!”
Because obviously, I was super bummed my recipes didn’t exude my LOVE of entertaining.
My mother paused, then replied, “you absolutely love the holidays”.

And honestly, hearing that made me tear up a little.. truer words have never been spoken!

๐Ÿ

There is something so magical to me about the holidays.
The second October hits, I am ready for it!!
As if I haven’t been telling Mario, “OMG Christmas is coming” once a week since August though… ๐Ÿคฃ

But every year – being able to bring my home alive from October 1st with fall decor – January 1st post NYE party – it’s always a special time for me.
I love the holidays because they always make me think of family.
Even now, living a heartbreaking 20 hours away from my parents (OK fine – its a 3 hour plane ride – BUT STILL!) just the feeling of the holiday’s makes my parents, my Granny, all my extended family and friends,
feel so much closer to me.

With A LOT of exciting changes on the way.. (that I promise to post about soon!) I didn’t want to over invest in my fall decor this year – not knowing what my space, this time next year, would need.

Burnt Orange
Beauties

Kinda obsessed with these pillows for 4 key reasons!

1. The price ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
Like I said, I didn’t want to over commit to any design aesthetics this year, not knowing what I would want in my space NEXT year.
So $30 for the 24″x 24″ sham + insert = steal!

2. Free of Harmful Materials
A blogger, Caitlin Covington, recently peeled my eyes WIDE open to the crazy effects everyday materials have on our bodies. Especially on women. So the fact these pillows meet the Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX guidelines, meaning these pillows were made free of over 350 harmful chemicals, is super important to me.

3. The Size
As I mentioned, these pillows are 24″ x 24″. That may be TOO big for some couches, but on my oversized Cloud couch from Restoration Hardware, 20″x 20″ is really the smallest I can go for true back support pillows. So I super appreciate the fact I can bring in some fall decor flair – in a size that fits my style!

LASTLY,
4. The Fabric!
The front is a soft, but not distressed, velvet. I can wallow on these all day and they don’t wrinkle.
The BACK has a fun, added surprise, of being covered in a small herringbone print. Mixed orange with a slight hint of cream, makes these pillows the perfect fall decor add on – no matter which side you showcase.

Snowย Leopard
Shams

If you know me – you know I love cheetah / leopard prints. Done well, they provide the perfect neutral pairings in both apparel AND home decor, without being a boring solid.

I found some amazing shams at HomeGoods last year, same snow leopard pattern, but they weren’t branded… so when I wanted to add a 3rd to really fluff up my space, I was out of luck.
Then one late night scroll on Target, I found these amazing dupes of my designer finds from HomeGoods!

These fun animal print pillows are 20″ x 20″ – and only $25 for both the sham + insert.
They have a soft, faux fur feel, that is more “fuzzy” than “fur”.
This luxe texture mix up adds a little more depth to the overall fall decor look!
My HomeGoods look-a-likes, were down filled, so I replaced the included insert with a down fill.
I LOVE the way a chopped pillow looks when its filled with feathers ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Fur
FTW

Ok – so I think we’ve established I love specific animal prints, but have we covered yet how much I love furs?!
PETA don’t worry all the furs on my couch are faux – but that doesn’t apply to everything else.
To me, there is really nothing more luxurious, nothing softer, nothing more exquisite than a fur.
So yes, I appreciate a well done dupe!

To break-up the oversized frame of the couch and oversized pillows, I added 2 of these 18″ x 18″ Faux Fur Ombre Pillow Covers!
These were definitely a splurge in comparison at $55 per sham – no insert included. But, they are from Pottery Barn, so I know they will last more than 1 season and they’re in a great neutral I can see using in various rooms year-after-year.

I will always advise you to invest when it makes sense. Otherwise, you are senselessly, unknowingly, spending basically the same amount of money just in micro amounts year over year.
This applies to home decor, shoes, bags, kitchenware, skincare etc.
That being said – NEVER overpay if you don’t have to! Ya girl LOVES a deal!

So scoop these up – like I did – on their next promotion.
I’ll keep you posted ๐Ÿ˜‰

Again, I stuffed with down inserts to add to that cloud-like, fluffy, luxe look!

Cozy
Cuddles

There are honestly few things I love in my home, more than my collection of Barefoot Dreams.
I know, I know.. EVERYONE talks about this brand. From their wraps and robes, to socks and blankets!
But there is a REASON everyone raves about this brand.

So for this post – I’ll leave it at this – BUY ONE. They’re worth it!
This couch fall decor update features the “dove” grey color.

Plaid
Pumpkins

Finishing touches always help bring the whole look together. Like these super cute plaid pumpkins I found for a STEAL!
They come in sets of 2, and I bought them in both the black and white buffalo plaid, as well as the orange and white gingham.
I am OBSESSED – don’t worry mom – I will add a decorative bow to the top soon ๐Ÿ˜

Now its time to enjoy our freshly fluffed couch, cuddle up next to my loves, Mario & Napoleon, and sip some Abuelita while we binge the last season of Schitts Creek finallyย added to Netflix!

๐Ÿ‚Happy Fall Y’all๐Ÿ‚

xo, Margo
