HELLO WORLD!
oh how I’ve missed you

I knew I’d have some catching up to do bringing my site back to life – but who knew it would require a recap inclusive of the INSANITY that has been
2020?!

First, I want to thank you for still following along after all this time. I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and staying safe!

After publishing my last post on the blog last summer, I welcomed a MAJOR positive change into my life with a new career. I honestly couldn’t be happier with my choice or with the company who chose to believe in me ♥️
But let me tell you – starting a new career in my field at the end of summer means you’ve got about 2 months to GET WITH IT before holiday madness takes hold.

I have loved every single minute – but it was a lot to transition into while trying to keep this space productive, so I decided to put my blog on hold, until life settled down.
Well that’s the thing about life – it never really slows down does it? You just transition into the next chapter.
Ready or not!

So after my first few months (including a fabulously inspiring trip to Las Vegas – hotel vibes – and 2 trips to MEXICO with a weekend at Disney World (I’ll recap it all ASAP!) holiday hit head on.

After not just surviving but THRIVING on the craziness of the holidays, I welcomed the New Year with open arms.
Hello 2020!

Let me preface by telling you I had BIG plans for 2020. I’m talking trips all over the country and abroad. Experiencing Coachella in addition to several other music festivals. Crushing goals at work and making big plans for my future.

– Cut to February –

I flew to spend time with my parents in their new picturesque town in Michigan. Seeing them is always the best no matter where – but let me tell you – the snow there was magical!

*At this point COVID was already a thing – the news was covering it, mainly overseas – but masks here were already sold out.*

– Late February –

Mario flew me to Breckenridge again! (I will have a Breck review post ASAP – but for now check out my favorite boutique in Breck!)
Breck is honestly one of my favorite places. This time we went with my best friend and her husband. It was amazing.
Romantic, cozy, relaxing.

* March Madness ~ 2020 Remix *

March has always had my heart for obvious reasons
#aries #birthdaymonth #marchbaby
and March Madness HAD a solid meaning from my years at the University of Kentucky
but yeah, this year it was redefined.
Mario and I were lucky enough to still attend the world famous Houston Rodeo cook-off , see Willie Nelson live and spend a Friday night with Chance the Rapper.
But by March 17th life in Houston – and hello, most of the world – was entirely shut down.

* April Showers – WFH Hours *

Finding myself thankful, yet again, for my new company, I have been able to stay working this entire year. Work from Home (WFH) has definitely had its challenges as well as some hilarious highlights. But in all the insanity – working together with my team, my work fam, has been both humbling and inspiring.

* May / June
Do We Need More Room? *

I never thought Quarantine would have lasted this long when the initial shutdown started out as 2 weeks. But as the months went by, Mario and I really made the most of our time cooped up together!
I have to say – if you can make it through quarantine as couple and come out stronger – I’m pretty sure you’re with “the one” ♥️😝
My birthday, our 3rd Anniversary, Mario’s birthday, and Napoleon’s birthday have now all been celebrated during lockdown.
Being creative, we found new hobbies, cooked new recipes, supported local restaurants to-go, redefined “date night”, reinvented socializing with our friends, did some redecorating and in all that we had a thought,
“Have we outgrown our home?!

* July *

Mario and I have been talking about whether or not to move for about a year at this point.
Always getting stuck on the question:
Do we buy turnkey or build new?
Well hello, if you know me, you know I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.
After weeks of looking, driving to different neighborhoods, walking model homes, talking to different builders..
The most amazing opportunity fell into place!
And the best part is we were able to share this decision with both Mario’s parents here in Houston and with mine when we DROVE to see them at the lake in South Carolina.
(you guessed it – recap in the works on the road trip as well – stay tuned!)

* Ahhh August *

As I sit here writing this recap, wondering if not 1 but 2 hurricanes will bring rain my way this week, I can’t help but think… only in 2020!
The good news is – this pending inclement weather has not stopped our next chapter from moving forward..

With September just a few days away, you are now caught up on the abridged version of my life.
WHAT A CRAZY 12 MONTHS!
September marks 1 year in my new role ♥️
it marks the beginning of a new home chapter for Mario, Napoleon & me.
September brings Q3 to a close which means my favorite time of year – the holidays – are right around the corner.
& honestly, I can’t wait!
(giveaway in the works 🙌🏼)

What are you looking forward to most before 2020 comes to a close?

Leave a comment below and let’s speak some positivity into existence!
– hello good vibes –

gosh – its good to be back
😉

xo, Margo
