Reese is so talented and truly has served as a role model for me since middle school. Watching her career grow while she grew a family of her own, was so inspiring to see as a young girl. I never wanted to have a “traditional” career, but I have always wanted to work. For women, unfortunately, to have a successful career it usually requires giving up the notion of being the perfect PTA mom or even having a family entirely.
However, this is not the example I saw admiring Reese Witherspoon. She is living proof that women can go out there, have a successful career, be an advocate for what’s right, build a clothing line, write a book, raise a family, maintain her health and a happy marriage all while keeping her sense of humor. Now THAT is pretty much #goals if you ask me!
July 4th Gingham Goals
That’s just one of the many things that makes celebrating July 4th that much more exciting! The fact that we are the land of the free, because of the brave. And with Reese Witherspoon leading the way for women to embrace their freedom and be brave enough to pursue their dreams makes it all the more magical.
I thought it was only fitting to feature some Draper James [ Reese Witherspoon’s Clothing Line ] in this post! My dress is an adorable gingham little number with customizable spaghetti straps. It features an almost corset-like bodice really slimming my waistline, then it flairs out for a flattering and flowy flounce over my hips. For a little added femininity, the scallop hem is finished with embroidered flowers.
Finishing Touches
My earrings remind me of blueberries which for me makes them so perfect for July 4th. I love to make a sheet cake topped with vanilla icing covered with an American Flag pattern made of strawberries and blueberries!
I love a good headband. It always seems to give me the volume I need to help elongate my face. This precious seersucker gingham head wrap is under $5 and features a cute twist knot on the top.

Last but not least, my navy chevron Chanel wallet-on-chain [ WOC ]. This is one of my favorite investment pieces! First, because I feel like a navy handbag with SILVER hardware is so hard to find. Second, any Chanel bag in a classic silhouette is destined to retain its value and more than likely, become worth more than you initially pay. I love the silver stud detail around the frame of the bag that leads your eye to the leather woven chain strap. It’s magnetic closure, multiple interior card slots and middle pocket with a zip top make this bag worth the investment!
No matter how you celebrate July 4th or who you surround yourself with, make sure to take a moment between the BBQ, beer and backyard games to remember how important this day is. People believed in a better life, sought out after it, claiming it and fighting to defend it time and again. As the song goes, “I am proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free!” ♥️
