Flowy Foundation
Whether it’s a flowy dress, flowy top or a flowy skirt – my foundation to any summer look is usually something flowy. Designs that hang away from the body and fabrics that are naturally flowy help for several reasons. First, they let a breeze through and let hot air escape. Second, these silhouettes don’t cling to you. This is ideal for when you start to sweat, because it isn’t immediately visible. Third, almost always, a flowy style is a flattering style!
This denim mini dress hits all the marks above AND it has pockets! The denim material is thin but has enough coverage to hide “little sins” like cellulite. The 3/4 length sleeves are a nice touch and hard to find in most summer dresses. The ruffle neck at the hem adds some femininity while the structured shoulder balances out an otherwise trapeze look.
Cool Touches
Accessories are another great way to add a cool factor to your hot summer days. Headbands are BACK and I couldn’t be more excited! The top knot silhouette of this red headband adds some height to my crown, making my hair not look as flat after sweating.
These wicker hoops have become a summer 2019 staple for me! They are lightweight but make a big statement.
My Chloe Mini Marcie crossbody is the perfect bag for anyone on the go. It’s actually extremely lightweight which is a huge bonus especially when traveling. For under $1,000 this designer bag really does it all.
The crossbody strap is adjustable for height and style preference. The “saddle bag” flap secures through a loop lock design on the bottom of the bag, again adding security which is so crucial while traveling. Inside it is a huge cave of space. There are 2 interior card slot style pockets and the rest of the bag is free space fitting both of my phones, keys, full size wallet, touch up essentials you name it.
I’m so obsessed with my lace platform sandals I had to throw them in to complete the look! Platform soles are seriously a lifesaver when it comes to outdoor summer events.
2 Summer Beauty Hacks
The 1st hack to summer beauty I can share is that a well done spray tan goes a LONG way in minimizing your summer beauty routine. Its no secret that I LOVE being tan! I am more confident, I feel more put together, more beautiful you name it.
The saying goes “if you can’t tone it, tan it” and I can personally confirm my “little sins” of cellulite are invisible when I’m beautifully bronzed. Speaking of “Beautifully Bronzed”, the boutique salon here in Houston provides BY FAR the best spray tan I have ever experienced. I’m so addicted to the results, I go once a week!
A bonus benefit of a great spray tan is that I don’t end up needing to wear foundation. The spray tan acts as my first line of makeup. Proper hydration (water AND moisturizer) truly extend the life of your tan.
My 2nd hack making summer beauty a breeze, is a great fake eye lash. They instantly take away the need for waterproof/sweat proof mascara and add enough definition and volume you can forgo the risky black eye liner as well!
